A great kid's book full of cute and colorful illustrations depicting a fun and whimsical young lady sure to please the younguns out there. Good way to get the kids to start reading at an early age. Books are awesome.
Instead of saying ice cream, my two year will ask for a "parfait." Sometimes, she will even say "Merci" instead of "thank you." She has not asked for a pen with a "plume" yet, but I am sure it's only a matter of time. My daughter received her first Fancy Nancy book on her second birthday and immediately fell in love with it. We read this book every night. She has since gotten others in the series, which are just as enjoyable. The story is very cute and it has taught my daughter, as at very early age, that there are many (and sometimes fancier) ways of saying the same thing. The drawings have amazing detail (adults can appreciate a lot of the subtle humor in them) and the expressions on the faces of the characters are terrific. I can't imagine any little girl not loving Fancy Nancy.
We, my granddaughters and me, started the Fancy Nancy series some place in the middle. So it was really super to get this book and start from the beginning. Both the granddaughters are fairly girlie-girlie, so Nancy appeals to them with her frills and feathers and fanciness. This is a fun series for kids.
I bought this book for a birthday gift for a 4 year old little girl. She loves it and it's a really cute book with lots of facy words to build vocabulary.
But sometimes things do not go the way you expect. Fancy Nancy books were recommended to us both by family and by readers of my blog. She does teach her family to be fancy, and they do go out, but Nancy has an accident and does not feel very fancy anymore. They are fantastic books to help children develop a more diverse vocabulary. In this the first of the Fancy Nancy Books, Nancy helps her family dress up fancy and they head out for a night on the town. This is a wonderful little story, in an oversized picture book with fantastic illustrations. The book is as fancy as the person it features.
